In the wake of a global pandemic, many were uncertain of Africa’s capability to respond effectively to the pressure associated with a global health crisis, not realizing that the Ebola pandemic in West Africa in 2014 provided the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention with decisive lessons for Africa’s emergency response and surveillance crisis. Nestled within the African Union, the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has been crucial in galvanizing swift action against public health emergencies such as COVID -19.

This documentary serves as a testament to the journey the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, took in the fight against COVID-19. It provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the achievements made and the steps taken to address upcoming health crises.
