Our Goal: Over the next ten years, support three million young people to access dignified and fulfilling work.
Context: Senegal’s policy and strategy environment are conducive for economic and social development, and it has a thriving business sector. It also has a strong entrepreneurial spirit, with high levels of innovation within the digital economy. Nearly 35 percent of the population is between 15 and 35 years of age, and youth unemployment is at 13 percent.
Our Approach: Building on the government’s Plan for an Emerging Senegal (PSE) which outlines the vision for the country until 2035, the Foundation has made an initial USD 200 million, five-year commitment focusing on growth in small businesses, productivity improvements in the agriculture value chain, and improvements in education and training.
Priority Sectors: Agriculture and MSMEs.
The Foundation works with more than 100 partners in countries across Africa and in Canada. Together, we have improved the lives of more than 25 million people and their families. Learn more about our partnerships in Senegal.
