    Project: Access2Access

    Amount: $15.6 million

    Countries: Liberia, Rwanda, Zambia

    Serve 600,000 new, active customers, 75 percent of whom are engaged in farming or agribusiness.

    Improve household incomes and increase well-being and security through the use of agents, mobile agri-financial services, and tools.

    Strengthen local bank management and technical capacity through talent development initiatives with 1,800 staff.

    Project: Expanding Agricultural Finance in Rwanda

    Amount: $11.5 million

    Countries: Rwanda

    Increase access to and usage of financial services for 352,500 agricultural entrepreneurs.

    Test innovative digital and agent banking channels that can facilitate low-cost distribution of financial services nationally.

    Project: Smart Campaign III

    Amount: $4.4 million

    Countries: Pan - African

    Improve client protection in the microfinance industry, and help to de-emphasize certification and promote the local recognition of Client Protection Principles with a broader financial inclusion lens.


    Project: VentureLabs: Knowledge and Advisory for Early Stage Innovators

    Amount: $3.7 million

    Countries: Pan - African

    Identify and support the expansion of nine existing fintech companies in Africa and create at least two new companies to expand financial services to low-income clients in frontier markets like Nigeria and Ghana.

    Provide companies with technical assistance and ongoing financial and management support.

    Project: Board Fellowship Program

    Amount: $6.1 million

    Countries: Pan - African

    Deliver a fellowship program for Board members and CEOs of microfinance institutions in Africa to strengthen governance, client focus, risk management, and social performance oversight.

    Project: Second Chance Education for Young Mothers

    Amount: $1.0 million

    Countries: Tanzania

    Work with Tanzanian Folk Development Colleges to provide accredited secondary education for out-of-school young mothers to support their transition to higher education and life after school.

    Project: Youth Employment and Skills for Africa's Transformation

    Amount: $5.2 million

    Countries: Pan - African

    African Center for Economic Transformation will conduct research and policy convening activities in support of transformational policy design for youth employment and skills development.

    Project: Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program

    Amount: $25.0 million

    Countries: Cameroon, Ghana, Pan - African, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania

    Enable 500 qualified, yet economically disadvantaged African students to complete a master’s-level education in mathematical sciences.

    Support the AIMS Secretariat to increase the profile and prioritization of STEM education and research across the continent.

    Expand the Foundation’s network of partners committed to achieving its vision of education as a catalyst for social and economic transformation.

    Improve the quality of secondary-level teaching in science and mathematics.

    Project: Leaders in Teaching

    Amount: $12.4 million

    Countries: Rwanda

    As a Leaders in Teaching partner under the TRAIN and LEAD pillars, the AIMS Teacher Training Program equips secondary school teachers with gender-responsive teaching tools for math and science, leads the establishment of smart classrooms, and supports the strengthening of school leadership. AIMS’ public engagement and outreach increases public support for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, particularly for young women.

    Project: Anzisha Prize

    Amount: $9.2 million

    Countries: South Africa

    Expand the Anzisha Program for youth entrepreneurship in Africa and provide ongoing training, support and mentorship to Anzisha Prize applicants and 125 Fellows.

    Serve 300 young entrepreneurs through the Youth Entrepreneur Support Unit (YES-U) program and 150 educators through the Educator program.

    Project: Beyond Education / Africa Careers Network

    Amount: $13.0 million

    Countries: Pan - African

    Support 85 academically talented, yet financially disadvantaged students in completing a university education, while fostering their leadership skills and their capacity to give back to their communities.

    Create an internship and careers network that will support approximately 350 of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars.

    Amount: $26.7 million

    Countries: Pan - African

    Support 300 academically talented, yet financially disadvantaged students in completing a university education, while fostering their leadership skills and their capacity to give back to their communities.

    Generate and build the capacity of recruitment partners in Africa to identify and place students in reputable universities.

    Amount: $1.2 million

    Extend the reach of the Africa Careers Network to African university partners and Scholars (500) and strengthen the capacity of secondary education partners.

    Project: Decennial Scholarships

    Amount: $1.5 million

    Countries: South Africa

    Support 10 scholarships per year for five years to enable economically disadvantaged young people from across the African continent to attend ALA.

    Amount: $5.9 million

    Countries: Pan - African

    Enable high-potential African youth, specifically Mastercard Foundation Scholars and ALA graduates, to access transformative early-career opportunities that can accelerate their leadership development and impact in Africa.

    Project: Hanga Ahazaza – Inspiring Managers/Grow Your Business

    Amount: $4.5 million

    Countries: Rwanda

    African Management Initiative (AMI) will provide supervisors and aspiring supervisors in the tourism and hospitality sector with hands-on management and leadership skills training. AMI will also support entrepreneurs in this sector to drive growth in their businesses and create employment opportunities.

    Project: Agricultural Finance for Smallholders and Related Businesses

    Amount: $14.0 million

    Countries: Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia

    Increase productivity and market access of 490,000 smallholder farmers so they can improve their livelihoods.
