Donald H. Morrison Joins the Board of The MasterCard Foundation

Toronto, Ontario, September 16, 2011 – The MasterCard Foundation announced today the appointment of Donald H. Morrison, Former Chief Operating Officer of Research in Motion (RIM), to its Board of Directors.

“Don’s combination of business acumen and his personal philanthropic passion make him a valuable addition to The MasterCard Foundation Board,” said Lois Juliber, Chair of the Board of The MasterCard Foundation.

Mr. Morrison has distinguished himself throughout his career as an outstanding international business leader. At RIM, Mr. Morrison built a world-class service organization with operations in 175 countries around the world and fiscal year revenues of nearly $20 billion. Prior to joining RIM, Mr. Morrison held a number of senior leadership positions in Canada, Europe and the United States with AT&T and Bell Canada.

Beyond his professional success, Mr. Morrison has been a committed philanthropist and community activist. He is the co-founder of the Debbie and Donald H. Morrison Family Foundation. He is also a member of the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Advisory Board of the Mind and Life Institute and the Board of the new Mind and Life Institute in Canada. Mr. Morrison also continues to support projects focused on peace and security at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and has recently commissioned a project to develop new methods for the cultivation and practice of altruism and compassion with the Center for Engaged Compassion at Claremont College, California.

Mr. Morrison holds an MBA and BA from the University of Toronto and also participated in the Executive Program at the University of Virginia, Darden Business School.
