Our Focus

  • We believe youth employment is key to unlocking prosperity. Accelerating economic growth through inclusive interventions that drive productivity and innovation is critical.

  • Africa’s youth population is growing and will increasingly become the world’s workforce. It is estimated that by 2030, Africa will be home to the world’s largest workforce, with 375 million young people entering the labour market.

  • With the right skills, young people will improve their lives and the lives of their communities.

  • In Canada, the youngest, fastest-growing population is Indigenous people. Our focus in Canada is on supporting Indigenous youth in their pathways through education and on to meaningful work.

The Mastercard Foundation works with visionary organizations to enable young people in Africa and Indigenous youth in Canada to access dignified, meaningful, and fulfilling work.
