From Sun to Success

Impact to Date

This program seeks to help young people gained skills that will help them find work opportunities in solar system maintenance and installation. It also runs training workshops onrenewable energy topics for young people in secondary schools in Kakuma Refugee Camp. The training is providing secondary school students with a good understanding of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) connected to solar electricity. This helps them in critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity among others.

Partnership Focus

The program is is focused on the solar energy sector and the employment and income opportunities it offers for young people. At the same time, it promotes environmental sustainability through the use of solar energy and the application of STEM in solving environmental challenges.

The program is open to young women and men (aged 18-35 years) in the Kakuma Refugee Camp with a passion for success.

In Partnership With

Okapi Green Ltd is a for-profit enterprise that generates and distributes solar energy in the Kakuma Refugee Camp. The company provides quality, affordable, and reliable renewable electricity access to entrepreneurs and households in the camp, focusing on increasing the incomes and quality of life of residents of the area.

 

As part of the “From Sun to Success” program, it provides training on installing and maintaining solar systems for young refugees in Kakuma.
