Target Impact
This program aims to train and support young people in fish (tilapia) breeding and egg harvesting, creating a network of successful small-scale tilapia breeders who can create livelihoods by consistently supplying the local tilapia hatcheries with adequate eggs.

Partnership Focus
The program includes activities such as training and knowledge transfer on pond construction, tilapia breeding, and best management practices in aquaculture. These include selecting breeds, spawning techniques, and harvesting and handling tilapia eggs, among others. Young people are also linked to hatchery customers to sell the eggs they raise. It also facilitates young people’s formation of groups where they support each other through information sharing to grow their incomes.
The program is open to young people in Kisumu County.

Aquaculture Barn Limited was incorporated in 2022 and is based in Kisumu. Its mission is to bring understanding, trust, and utmost convenience to its partners and customers by sharing knowledge and experiences in aquaculture through the products and services it offers. It is guided by a vision to be a world-class food and nutrition hub empowering young people in innovative and sustainable aquaculture production and marketing. Its products and services include fingerlings, fish farming systems, and extension services, among others.
