Heifer International is a global nonprofit working to eradicate poverty and hunger through sustainable, values-based holistic community development. Heifer International distributes animals, along with agricultural and value-based training, to families in need around the world as a means of providing self-sufficiency.
Target Impact
To empower 250, 000 young people between 16-35 years in Eastern and Central Uganda to secure decent and dignified employment through agribusiness enterprise development by the end of 2028. (70% females, 3% youth with disabilities).
Among them, 175,000 of the targeted young people will be transitioned into dignified and fulfilling work to within the agribusiness and non-agribusiness enterprises.

Objectives:
Facilitate the acquisition of market-relevant skills for young people, including women, to increase access and utilization of quality services and market opportunities.
Build self-sustaining youth Agri-hubs and an MSME ecosystem to stimulate job creation for young people .
Facilitate access to innovative financing mechanisms for young entrepreneurs to start or expand businesses.
Improve the business environment for young people including women to access resources and job opportunities in Busoga region.
