The KCB Foundation was established in 2007 to implement the KCB Bank Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility programs and as a sign of commitment to sustainable development to alleviate poverty and enhance well-being. Its programs are designed to address issues of relevance specifically within the thematic areas of Education, Enterprise Development, Health, Environment and Humanitarian Intervention. The programs are customized in each KCB country to ensure they answer the relevant development priorities.

Target Impact

This program aims to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for young people (ages 18-34 years) through self-employment, entrepreneurship, and technology transfers. The program is open to young women and men (aged 18-35) in all 43 counties who are passionate about success.

Partnership Focus

This program aims to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for young people (ages 18-34 years) through self-employment, entrepreneurship, and technology transfers.

It seeks to strengthen and build the capacity of youth-led and owned businesses, specifically micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially those owned by young women, to access finance successfully (loans) and use it to grow their businesses. It also seeks to advocate for banks to include young people, especially young women, in their financing to enhance the growth and sustainability of their micro-enterprises.

The program involves these activities:
• Skilling of young people through placement into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country (43 counties).
• Providing advanced specialized training for young people.
• Training young people on enterprise development to start their businesses.
• Providing toolkits to young people for self-employment after receiving skills training and funding to start their businesses.
• Provide one-on-one mentorship and coaching to young people who can access credit to start their businesses.

In 2019, a model farm in Kibiko, Ngong area, was set up to provide hands-on training to young people on hydroponic farming through greenhouses, which Latia Agribusiness Solutions supports.
