FNUniv puts Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing at the foundation of their governance and decision-making processes.
This partnership supports the growth, sustainability, and autonomy of FNUniv. Through this partnership, FNUniv will lead the long-term transformation of post-secondary education in Canada and further economic reconciliation and Indigenous prosperity. The partnership will enhance, expand, and co-develop new post-secondary programs and courses, enhance linkages between education and the job market, and connect young people to work through internship, mentorship, and employment opportunities.
The partnership focuses on four key areas:
• Transforming Post-Secondary Education: The National Indigenous University Senior Leaders’ Association (NIUSLA) and a National College of Indigenous Scholars will track progress and lead critical change across Canada.
• FNUniv Autonomy: FNUniv will become a fully autonomous University delivering community grounded Indigenous education across Saskatchewan and Canada.
• Economic Reconciliation: Aligned to the National Indigenous Economic Strategy (NIES) Calls for Prosperity, the Indigenous Economic Prosperity Institute (NIEPI) will be launched to track progress, conduct research, and support the full implementation of NIES to foster Indigenous prosperity.
• Innovative Indigenous-led Programming: New innovative Indigenous-led programming will be launched to meet the needs of Indigenous learners and communities; including, the Paralegal program, the Bachelor in Indigenous Journalism and Communications, the Bachelor in Indigenous Mental Health and Wellness, the Midwifery Program, and the Bachelor in Indigenous Language Revitalization.
