Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE)
The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) is a Pan-African Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1992 by five women ministers of education to promote girls’ and women’s education in sub-Saharan Africa in line with Education for All.
The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) organization’s members include female ministers of education, university vice-chancellors, education policymakers, researchers, gender specialists and human rights activists.
Through its collaboration with the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), the Mastercard Foundation strengthens pathways into tertiary education and post-secondary training for rural girls, refugees, displaced persons, and young women with disabilities. FAWE programs provide targeted scholarships, mentoring, and bridging pathways to accredited institutions, alongside engagement with governments and schools to promote inclusive policies. This approach leverages proven models to scale access, build aspirations, and create sustainable opportunities for young women to complete their education and pursue fulfilling futures.
