EdTech Conference
The Mastercard Foundation EdTech Conference is a biennial event organized by the Foundation’s Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning to transform the future of learning in Africa using technology as an enabler. The conference, which kicked off in July 2024, seeks to convene EdTech stakeholders to share best practices and increase access to relevant, quality, and inclusive education in Africa.
July 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria this high-level convening brought together stakeholders committed to accelerating quality and equitable education for young people through technology.
Together, we explored cutting-edge ideas, forged strategic partnerships, and envisioned the future of education technology in Africa.
The Mastercard Foundation EdTech Conference 2024, hosted in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria, gathered innovators, leaders, and young people to drive transformative change in education across Africa.
The goals for this conference include identifying and documenting young people’s learning challenges, aligning on the status of focus for action in the EdTech ecosystem in Africa, and raising awareness of EdTech’s potential to address challenges of access to learning.
The conference will foster the sharing of best practices and demonstrate innovative EdTech solutions, identifying key challenges and opportunities for creating resilient education systems in Africa.
The conference will seek to establish a baseline for commitment to clear and measurable goals to be reached by 2026. Each represented country will identify and share 3 to 5 items it intends to progress on before the next conference in 2026. Progress will be reported during the 2026 conference as a means of holding governments accountable.
