“Life has been hard. It’s where we have come from, it’s our past, and it does not define our future,” Anthony says gently, speaking of growing up amidst civil war in the Kalaki district of Eastern Uganda.
With a Masters’ Degree in Science in Horticulture from Egerton University as a beneficiary of the Mastercard Foundation and RUFORUM’s TAGDev program, Anthony is now an impactful young changemaker. 4Pillar Network empowers local farmers with the tools they need to harness Africa’s agricultural potential through lucrative, dignified livelihoods.
Anthony Emaru’s mission is to empower communities to embrace farming as a ‘green-collar job’. His network, 4Pillar, now operates in 4 countries in East Africa providing training, inputs, private sector linkages and mindset support for over 2,500 farmers, particularly women.
