Learn More About Lucy Aciro

Lucy has grown up in a difficult world, from having to hide from the Lord’s Resistance Army fighters as a child, to not having the fees to finish her studies. Despite all this, Lucy never surrendered her determination to further her education, and was eventually able to pursue higher education through a scholarship awarded to her by the Mastercard Foundation and RUFORUM TAGDev program.

Lucy obtained a Master of Sciences in Agri-Enterprise Development at Gulu University, and has brought that knowledge back to her community to educate the local smallholder farmers to diversify and scale their crop growths, after suffering hardships through effects of climate change. Through the Community Action Service Project (Pig CARP+1) Lucy studied consumer preferences and created linkages between pig farmers and the consumer. From her applied research, she was able to link 60 pig farmers to 11 institutional consumers.
