Our Work in Ethiopia

The Foundation’s Priorities in Ethiopia Over the Next Ten Years

Young Africa Works in Ethiopia will leverage the momentum created by the government and work with the newly established Jobs Creation Commission to catalyse growth in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and digital technology. Our strategy will align with four key priorities:

  • Priority 1 –Strengthening agri-food systems, supporting linkages to agro-industrial parks, and increasing access to finance and business development services for agribusinesses.
  • Priority 2 –  Building a robust pipeline of skilled youth to work in Ethiopia’s 21 Industrial Parks and enabling them to establish enterprises aligned with the business needs of the parks.
  • Priority 3 – Supporting the expansion and modernization of the sector by working with Tourism Ethiopia on its strategy and by engaging with the private sector.
  • Priority 4 – Supporting the development of a national digitization strategy with the Ministry of Information Technology and working with private-sector players on cross-sectoral digitization of payments, financial services, and other key services.
